Final Checklist before you head for the airport

Arrive at Manchester airport no later than 8:00 Saturday morning April 22nd. Arrive earlier to beat the Troop 19 crowd, and enjoy some breakfast in the airport "lounge upstairs".

Photo ID is mandatory of anyone 18 or older. Our recommendation is that any students with photo ID should bring it, and scouts not traveling with parents should probably have some form of ID (copy of birth certificate).

Wear Class A Scout Uniform on airplane, and while traveling to and from Las Vegas. Class A Uniform is Troop 19 Hat, Scout Shirt, Scout Pants, Scout Belt. You will be able to change to Scout T-shirt and hat while on the bus. For the evening we are in Las Vegas, you can wear "civies".

Every piece of baggage you bring should have one of the Troop 19 "Orange Tags" on it. This will help in collecting the baggage when we are in Las Vegas. It is still your responsibility to account for all your baggage before getting on the bus in Las Vegas.

Remember to collect and pack your "perishable food" that you may have stored elsewhere in your house. This is food for both in-canyon and on the Rim meals.

NO pocket knives or leatherman type tools may be enclosed in your carry-on luggage, or on your person. If they find a knife of any kind when you go through airport security, it WILL be taken away from you.
Remember this for the trip home also.

DO NOT pack your water bottles full. We will get water when we get out there.

NO stoves or fuel bottles will be allowed on the plane, either in checked luggage, or in carry-on.

If you are checking a backpack, and it is NOT in a duffel bag, make sure you have a label on it that says "NO STOVE OR CAMPFUEL ENCLOSED". You may loose your bag if you forget this. If your pack is not going into a duffle bag, you will be able to get a plastic bag at the check in counter, be sure to remove any loose straps or buckle them tightly (hip belt etc.)

Do not forget to pack (or wear) your hiking boots - this HAS happened!

Remember to turn in any medications to your group leader if he/she is to carry it for you.

Bring something to do on the plane and bus. A book, sketch pad, cards are good suggestions. You may also want to bring some snack food. Do not bring CD players, electronic games etc. We suggest you bring extra water on the plane, dry air will dehydrate you quickly and it's best to stay hydrated for our anticipated trip.

Scouts will need "spending" money for souvenirs, snacks, film, postcards, and some of the Rim Activities (see Mike Dolan). If you plan to participate in the Circus Circus AdventureDome, the rides are $5.00/each or $16.95 for unlimited use. AdventureDome will be open from 6:00 pm to Midnight

Cut toenails before you leave the house.

ALL medical forms and permission slips should have been turned in by now! If you still have not done so, make sure it is done ASAP. You will not get on the plane without proper paperwork in place.

How to pack. Plan to pack a separate bag which will hold your scout clothes while in the Grand Canyon, and also the clothes you will change into for the Las Vegas night. Most likely your backpack will be kept on the bus while we are in our stopover in Las Vegas 4/28. Consider switching your tooth brush, camera, and wallet from your backpack to your "Vegas Bag" the morning of Friday 4/28 so you will have it in the room.

There will be a trailer in Mather Campground to lock up valuables while you are in the Canyon.
